Do you want to do something after school that strengthens your leadership, job and life skills? Do you want to improve your community? Are you in grades 8, 9 or 10?

“Step Up” is Serve’s March Break program for youth aged 13 - 16 years old (in grades 8 - 10). Youth participate every day during March Break. During this time they will:

  • volunteer in service projects that help the local community
  • participate in educational workshops on diversity, bullying, assertiveness, conflict management and more
  • increase their self-confidence, leadership, communication and problem solving skills

Upon completing Step Up, youth take part in a graduation celebration and receive both a certificate and small financial award for their commitment to achieving their goals.

Interested in taking part? In order to sign up you must be:

  • Interested in teamwork
  • Wanting to volunteer in the community and earn volunteer hours
  • Wanting to strengthen leadership, job and life skills
  • Available to participate from approximately 9:30 am until 4pm during March break for ALL five days

When I started at Serve Canada, I was 21 years old, had never had a full-time job for longer than two months and was a year and a half clean from a crippling heroin addiction which I allowed to rob me of the opportunities every youth has when they are in high school. In the program, my personality came out for the first time. I discovered my natural leadership abilities but I also learned about the difference one person can make.
