She Speaks: A Community Approach to Violence Prevention and Healthy Relationships.

Written by members of the Stronger Selves, Stronger Lives program team in 2005, She Speaks is a resource guide on violence against girls and women, discrimination, harassment, sexuality, relationships and safety. This 70 page book includes personal stories, perspectives and tips about understanding violence, how to create healthy relationships and what can you do about being more proactive in your community.

She Speaks is available for download as a .pdf. The book is also available free of charge, to community agencies and organizations that work with youth. As we have a limited number of copies, availability is first-come, first-served. (Agencies are encouraged to arrange for pick-up from our centre whenever possible).

  • Download the book (Adobe PDF)
  • Or order a copy online (costs $2.50 to cover postage and handling. Contact Us if you wish to order more)

The Fantastic U.D.Y.

A zine produced by youth participants in 2005’s Serve Up The Summer program. Participants aged 13-15 wrote, drew and designed The Fantastic U.D.Y. (United Diverse Youth) which focuses on diversity and includes reflections on what diversity means to youth in their community, perspectives on stereotyping and gun violence and other stories.

We have learned lots of lessons about everyone. Here, we are treated fairly and respected by all. Together, we can accomplish anything. We help out the community and help ourselves as well. Everything we do here benefits someone else. Working together, we help ourselves.
