Serve! Engaging Youth for Change

making it work

Want to make a difference in your life, and in the lives of others?

“Making It Work” is Serve’s summer experiential learning program for youth 17 - 21 years old. Participants engage in a full-time, six-week program that focuses leadership development, teamwork, community involvement, and employment preparedness.

Over the course of the program, participants work toward:

  • Strengthening leadership and life skills
  • Working through obstacles/barriers and building job skills
  • Teamwork and working with diverse people
  • Contributing in the community and taking on challenges.

Youth participants engage in guided learning activities through community involvement. They also experience an adventure-based challenge and trip outside of the city.

Participants receive a living stipend during the program and receive support for working on future goals.

  • 17 – 21 years old
  • Able to commute daily to and from program (mostly downtown activities)
  • Available to participate full-time Monday to Friday from approximately 9am until 4:30/5pm this summer for full 6 weeks (July 7 to August 15, 2008). Daily attendance is required.

Remember that this is NOT A JOB...This is a program and learning opportunity.

Serve Canada has demonstrated time and time again a commitment to the development and well being of youth. Serve Canada provides programming that puts young people in situations and environments that foster personal skills development and growth, teamwork in diverse teams, and community involvement. They learn and grow while engaging in hands-on initiatives.
