First, we review all applications that are received. Then we invite applicants to a group interview (with other applicants) and see them in action during a series of group activities. Individual applicants are interviewed at this preliminary selection stage. After the group interview, a portion of these applicants will then be contacted and invited to a second interview that will involve a more in-depth personal interview.
Generally, we put together teams that are diverse, with team members that have different backgrounds, personalities, experiences, strengths, challenges, needs and life situations.
A shorter and modified screening and selection process is used for recruiting younger youth for our summer and after-school programs.
What if I am not accepted onto a team?We keep a waiting list of suitable applicants who have been interviewed in case a vacant spot on a team becomes available.
How many youth are in one team?This varies from time to time. The usual number of Team Members for the “Experience This!” full-time program is ten. The number of Team Members for our summer or after-school programs range from eight to twelve.
How many teams will you have?This also varies from time to time depending on factors such as available funding and staffing resources. Check with our office for current information as a program is being launched.
